I am working on an old concrete house and have put this drill through its' paces over the last year. The features of this drill set it apart from the others. The feature to reduce torque reaction works very well. so far.I just finished using a large chisel bit to "level'" a basement stair landing that was never poured to be finish work. Best of all, the drill is ergonomically designed, lightweight and comfortable to use. This is beyond the light chipping this tool is designed for and it did take awhile. It has done everything from drilling 1'' holes through 8" poured walls to effortlessly drilling over a hundred holes for 3-3/4 " Tapcons. All the drilling/ hammer modes are well thought out, but the vario-lock positioning feature is especially useful for chipping.
I took plenty of breaks to keep the drill cool, and even sharpened the chisel once. But, it got the job done and I ended up with new admiration for a $150 reconditioned tool. The SDS system is great and bits are easily available locally. If you don't mind recon, you can't go wrong for that price.
My husband and I do concrete and have always used a smaller Bosch rotary hammer but when his father burned it up we figured it was a good time to upgrade to the 1-inch Extreme and it was of course way cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Sorry Lowe's.
If it works much better then it does now I may go over to the neighbors and drill some holes for him. What takes minutes with my old drill takes seconds. I dont need it often but when I have to drill into concrete I dont want it to take all day, I replaced my older Hammer drills as I have to drill a bunch of 3/4 holes. Very Good tool. If you have to drill concrete this is the tool. I was suprised to see that it has a break in period before it works the best. Be sure to buy quality bits with the drill. It makes a difference
I must have drilled about a hundred holes around and into the mortar joints. I just got done installing a wall thimble for my pellet stove. The hole was completed in less than an hour. I had to go through 8 inches of brick. And make a 8.5 inch hole. I should have bought the chipping bit right away, it would have been done in less time. The Bosch 11255vsr preformed great.
I've found I was looking for in a rotary hammer drill, I wasn't trying to purchase a monster drill but don't fear to buy this, this is a very good drill and also it's powerfull, soft while drilling and comparing with other drill like this it doesn't make a lot of noise, it doesn't bring extra accesories. i'd like them to include extra drilling accesories this make looks better and attactive the offer.
